Award-winning play & film about a writer who helps a Fire Captain celebrate the firefighters he lost on 9/11, overcoming grief with humanity
In the play, Joan, an editor, helps Nick, a NYC Fire Department captain, prepare the eulogies for the eight firefighters who died under his command that day. He shares stories about the men, their families, firehouse meals and good times and in doing, so helps to overcome grief with compassion and humanity.
The play debuted off-Broadway on December 4, 2001, starring Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray. Since then, it has been presented in 48 US states and 14 countries as well as with rotating celebrity actors. It was adapted in 2002 as a film starring Sigourney Weaver and Anthony LaPaglia.
There are over 30 productions in multiple States being planned this year to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 and the play.
