The Grove Book Club

Come and join us on the third Monday of each month for this free event. This is an opportunity to chat about a different book, chosen by your host, every month, with fellow book lovers.

The next Grove Book Club will take place on Monday 17th June at 7.30pm at The Grove Bookshop in Ilkley. This month, we will be discussing A Month in the Country by J.L. Carr, a classic novella about a damaged World War I veteran, who takes refuge in the village of Oxenbury, helping to uncover a medieval wall painting in the local church.

Each month we will meet to talk about a book, which you will be able to purchase at the previous meeting, with a 10% discount. There will be a free glass of wine available for all attendees. Your host, Emily, will come prepared with questions to prompt the group discussion and will be open to suggestions for future book choices. It will be a laid back, friendly group, and we fully understand if people haven't been able to complete the book in the intervening month - but to help this, book choices won't be super long!

If you miss the group, you will be able to buy the book from the shop in the following weeks with the discount. Although this is a free event, places need to be reserved every month.

Nikki, who runs Book Club, has worked at The Grove Bookshop for nearly seven years. She enjoys reading a wide range of books but has a particular knowledge of literary fiction. She is a trained journalist and copy editor. She is also an actor at Ilkley Playhouse and a mother to two young daughters.

June's Book Club will be hosted by Emily, who has worked at The Grove Bookshop for two years. She runs the monthly writing group and is a keen writer and reader of short fiction.
