The Gracies Awards were established in 1975 and celebrated with a gala on the West Coast and a luncheon on the East Coast. These star-studded events include the visionary women who have spearheaded media progress and those who are setting the path for the future.

In 1951, a group of progressive women launched what is today the Alliance for Women in Media, formerly American Women in Radio and Television. The Alliance for Women in Media harnesses the promise, passion and power of women in all forms of media to empower career development, engage in thought leadership and drive positive change for our industry and societal progress. In 1960, the Alliance for Women in Media became the first professional broadcasting organization to establish an educational foundation. The AWM Foundation supports educational programs, charitable activities and scholarships. The Foundation annually honors the best and brightest women in news and entertainment at The Gracie Awards.
