Escape rooms: everyone's favorite activity to do when you're going to a birthday party hosted by a virgin or when your company is forcing you to go under the threat of contract termination. Escape rooms famously simulate everyone's favorite real-life feelings of being stuck in a room with a bunch of strangers, being forced to do puzzles, and having thoughts that if something goes slightly wrong you might die. How are you going to figure out how to escape Under St Marks Theater? Here's a hint: try to solve the clues!
On Friday May 17th 10th at 7 PM, The Yard Theater will be hosting The GottaGo Room: A Fake Escaping-A-Room Thingy, an immersive comedy show slash fake-ass escape room. In the show, you ("you" meaning whoever is reading this right now) will go inside The Yard Theater and immediately try to leave the theater once you get there. No one will be allowed to leave until the puzzle is over. Unless there's a real fire. Then we're leaving there as fast as possible.
The GottaGo Room was performed for a bunch of British people at the renowned 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. During its successful nightly three week run and one sold out show, one review said "This is the weirdest show at Fringe...that we loved every second of."
The show comes from the mind and laptop of Jason Weitzman who Time Out New York called "funny and inventive," "[a] brilliant gonzo performer," and "he's going to exert himself to the point of danger."
So put on your Thinking Hats, your Puzzle-solving Pants, and your Guessing, uh, Guess pants and come to the show where if you fail you may never leave The Yard Theater again. Claustrophobics welcome!
