The Fundamentals of Contaminated Land, Water and Waste Laboratory Analysis: A Seminar for Non-Chemists

This in-person seminar is part of Element’s ongoing technical support for existing and prospective clients and provides an excellent opportunity for non-chemist professionals to gain a better understanding of environmental analysis.

The seminar will provide information on aspects of analytical testing, and is aimed at consultants, engineers, contractors, and local authority staff. The topics covered include:

Introduction to environmental testing services
Sampling and sample integrity, deviating samples, and Laboratory Quality Control
Sample preparation and Inorganic testing – metals, anions, sulphur, cyanide and leachates
Asbestos – background and methods
Organic testing – basic overview
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) – methods, and gas analysis
Semi-volatile Organic Compounds (SVOCs) – phenols, PCBs, pesticides, and PAHs
PFAS, Dioxins and Furans
Future of environmental testing
