The Foliage Workshop

We are the New York City Urban Sketchers, a Regional Chapter of Urban Sketchers.  Our mission is to raise the artistic, storytelling and educational value of location drawing, promoting its practice and connecting people around the world who draw on location where they live and travel. New York City Urban Sketchers aim to show the our city and our life and times, one drawing at a time.

Conservatory Water

This workshop, taught by Katie Woodward, is going to explore how to break down complicated scenes that include foliage and trees into easily managed compositions, whether the trees are the focus or in the background! Participants will come away with a better understanding of lighting as it relates to leaves, and several different ways to approach painting leaves. Workshop will be completed in watercolor and include an instructional part, demonstration, and time for participants to try out techniques for themselves.
