Coastal Continuing Education invites you to attend this interactive and educational 4-hour training with Rochelle Perper, PhD. This training is for all clinicians and treatment providers seeking to learn how to deepen their knowledge on the ethical guidelines for writing effective case note documentation.

This course meets the Continuing Professional Development requirements for psychologists in the subject of Laws and Ethics.

Course Description:

Due to recent regulatory guidelines, an increasing number of patients are accessing their medical records online and requests for clinical records are on the rise. This trend makes it more challenging than ever for therapists to effectively document what happens in therapy while balancing patient autonomy with the need to protect privacy.

This course will review the ethical guidelines for effective case note documentation and provide a framework for making decisions when handling requests for patient records. Attendees will learn how to fulfil their ethical and legal mandate to protect patient privacy and weigh the legal, ethical, and clinical considerations when making a disclosure.

Dr. Peper’s approach to law and ethics is practical and engaging. She provides examples and addresses common scenarios that therapists face in their daily practice to make complex ethical issues become more manageable. This course meets the Continuing Professional Development requirements for psychologists in the subject of Laws and Ethics.
