About this event

Join us this summer to start your school year off with a deep understanding of the landscape of AI as it pertains to education in 2024. Facets of AI are emerging and adjusting all the time, and this course will set you up with everything you need to know on the most current shifts and tools. The class is suitable for educators at all AI comfort levels. Everyone will walk away prepared and empowered!

Course Description:

In the rapidly changing landscape of generative AI, educators have been presented with a technology that arrived on our doorsteps without an opportunity or path to opt-out, and little time to prepare or shift our classroom practice. Whereas all previous educational technology was fundamentally optional, requiring districts, leadership, classrooms and educators to actively adopt the technology, AI simultaneously presents significant opportunities and dilemmas that educators, students and classrooms must grapple with in both the short and long term. Considering this AI in education environment, the purpose of this three part course is to equip educators with a combination of technical skill set to manipulate and leverage generative AI in their classroom and practice, develop a solid framework and language to thoughtfully develop an approach to AI, and to explore meaningful use cases of AI in education ranging from educator to student use of AI.

Course Structure:

  • 3 Live Sessions
  • 3 Self-Paced Modules
  • End Project (that you can use in your classes in the fall)

Module 1: If AI is the Answer…

To kick off the course, participants will explore the impact of AI on education from a thirty thousand foot view. We will frame our exploration of AI by addressing the critical question: If AI is the answer, what is the problem we are attempting to solve? Additionally, we will establish a core framework and language that educators can adopt to facilitate meaningful discussion, decision making, and classroom use cases.

Session 2: Leveraging AI in Education

Whereas module one targets a broad view, framework and language adoption around AI, the focus of module two is to deeply explore meaningful, impactful and exceptionally practical approaches to the use of AI in education. The module two content will help educators develop a structured approach to prompt design specifically for educators. Through three key lenses: educator productivity, classroom experience co-design, and student use, module two will enhance awareness of both the capacity of AI when leveraged in meaningful ways, as well as concrete examples of AI use in the hands of students.

Session 3: Moving Forward with AI

With a solid foundation of conceptual frameworks and language, along with improved technical capacity for manipulating and integrating AI into educational settings, course participants are poised to move forward and thoughtfully lead with a carefully crafted approach to AI in their classroom. Module three will help educators design a plan and path to move forward in their classroom with meaningful classroom integration.  With student facing AI platforms emerging and educators exploring the potential for classroom use, module three will help educators grapple with the prospect and redesign of classroom experiences that integrate generative AI.

Live Sessions:

Live sessions will take place on the following Thursdays from 8:00am-9:30 am EST via Zoom.
