About this event

  • 3 hours

The East Village has been a symbol of counterculture in New York City since the 1950s. Once synonymous with beatniks and later with punk rock, the neighborhood today is a unique mix of people and cultures, music and art.

During the day, we will explore Alphabet City and other notable East Village spots, learning to identify a good street photo. We'll work on striking the right balance of storytelling and technique, from camera settings to lighting and composition and discuss strategies for photographing candid scenes versus posed street portraits. Your instructor will be with you every step of the way to look at your work and answer questions.
