What is The Duck & the Goose?
The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky is the flagship seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention. Southern Seminary has a great and powerful legacy of producing ministers of the gospel who give themselves to the rigorous study of the scriptures on that great campus located at 2825 Lexington Road. Nestled just behind the great campus of the seminary is a house that has quite a history and legacy of its own - The Duck and The Goose. This house has been home to nearly 100 men who have fought the good fight of theological education on the campus of Southern Seminary, and the men who have called The Duck and The Goose home have established fraternal relationships that will carry and encourage them through the trials and difficulties, as well as the joys and triumphs of pastoral ministry.
The Duck and The Goose has played host to many professors, administrators, and yes, even the President of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary since its founding in 2006. It has been ground zero for foundational theological debates and musings. It has also been the hub of fun and encouragement for thousands of guests who have attended dinners, parties, and throw-downs over the years.Even as The Duck and The Goose continues to be the heart of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary today, many men who have lived and partnered together within the walls of that house now come together in Atlanta, Georgia for a conference in that is designed to encourage, instruct, and challenge one another to greater faithfulness in the noble task of pastoral ministry. While this is a conference put on by the members of The Duck and The Goose, it is a conference open to all who need encouragement and friends in the ministry.
