Event description

Description

The aim of this inter-institutional and international seminar is to share personal experiences and practical tools for using problem-based learning (PBL) in the behavioural and social sciences. Importantly, the speakers will review empirical evidence and best-practice guidelines relevant to the behavioural and social sciences.

This seminar will build on an existing knowledge exchange network between academics based at the University of Limerick, Aarhus University, and Aalborg University (funded by Erasmus+ staff mobility, 2018) on teaching innovations and problem-based learning. Both Danish universities are world-leaders in active learning and problem-based learning methods.

The proposed speakers differ in terms of their career stage and experience with PBL – however, each speaker will reflect on their own PBL journey, and the unique challenges experienced along the way. The seminar will be of interest to individuals who wish to engage in the use of PBL for the first time and to individuals who wish to advance their own PBL knowledge and skills. This event will provide an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and network, as well as to plan the next stage of development in their own teaching and learning practice.

Confirmed speakers: Dr. Casper Feilberg (Aalborg University, Denmark), Ms Yvonne Delaney (Director, Management Development Unit, Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick) and Dr. Emma O'Brien (Academic Developer, Learning Enhancement and Academic Development (LEAD) Centre, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick).

A light lunch will be served at 1pm. All are welcome but reserving a ticket in advance would be greatly appreciated.
