Silverthorne Theater Company presents the first production of our 2024 season, the world premiere of Liz Duffy Adams' The Broken Machine. Directed by Gina Kaufmann (The Cake, Bright Half Life, The Revolutionists), performances will take place at the Mainstage Theater at Hampshire College in Amherst, from June 7th - 15th.The Broken Machine is a whimsical climate-change fantasy, set in the not-too-distant future. Mac (Julie Nelson*, The Revolutionists) is a coder who has broken free of the web and now lives alone in the woods, calling herself “The Broken Machine” and trading food for news with her only companion – a cynical Gray Fox (Noah Tuleja*, The Norwegians, Irma Vep). When fire breaks out, a bumbling Laurel and Hardy-esque forest ranger team (Hia Ghosh &amp; Walt Manasse-Latham) try to rescue her, but a mad, magical, Psychopomp (Darrow Sherman) plays Puck and leads the lost quartet astray.Please note: The 3pm matinee on Saturday, June 8th, will be mask-required. Masks are welcome but not required at all other performances.This production is made possible by the generous support of the Mass Cultural Council and the Amherst Cultural Council, Pelham Cultural Council, Hadley Cultural Council, South Hadley Cultural Council and the West Springfield Arts Council, local agencies which are supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
