Join Bishop Matthew F. Heyd in conversation with acclaimed author Susan Cheever for the latest installment of The Bishop Series, presented by 1047, the Cathedral’s network of emerging leaders and young professionals. Cheever’s new book, When All the Men Wore Hats (Farrar, Straus and Giroux), revisits the life and work of her father, celebrated writer John Cheever, more than forty years after her memoir Home Before Dark.

Through the lens of six of his most iconic short stories, including “The Swimmer,” she offers a compassionate yet unsparing portrait of his art, family life, and hidden struggles, while reflecting on the enduring power of fiction to tell the truth.
