Join us on Sunday April 28th for an evening of artistic expression, sacred geometry, plants and dancing.

Our featured artist this month is longtimeEntFriend Michelle Anderst!

Michelle Anderst is a Pacific Northwest based oil painter and scientific illustrator whose paintings of biological subjects serve as both works of art as well as aesthetic statements on ecological consciousness in the modern world. She describes each of her compositions as a ritual or magic spell that weaves geometry, planetary correlations and mystical symbolism into the piece. Through her art, Anderst conveys a sense of wonder, curiosity and appreciation for the natural world, commonly overlooked non-human microcosms, microscopic creatures and complex ecological systems.

Eternal Sunrise: an installation by Triangularis!

Hey guys, excited to announce we'll be hosting one of the first examples of Triangular design's immersive installations at the gallery for this show. Triangularis is the brainchild of Evan Bartholomew (Bluetech) and Ian Phillips (Drawbird). This installation will be projection mapped onto a wall and be interactive in nature; since this is the first one to be brought into existence I have attached a rendering of what it might look like.

The installation in their words: “Eternal Sunrise”“Eternity is in love with the productions of time.”He who binds to himself a joyDoes the winged life destroyHe who kisses the joy as it fliesLives in eternity's sunriseWilliam Blake, EternityIntroduction:An expression of the transient moments of our lives, creating the fabric of our existence and eternity. Each action is fleeting, but the piece will capture these actions and eternalize them. As participants take a moment to pause, reflect, and experience the creations born of engagement with the piece, the culmination of these creations as rendered by the piece will highlight the eternity of their existence.

We engage with the Eternal (the piece) either by pausing to observe or through deliberate clearing of creations, creating moments that are rendered audiovisually. The summation of these experiences is made apparent by the piece rendering an amalgamation of every participant’s engagement with it, highlighting each interaction and its contribution to the whole. Thus we engender a pause for consideration of those fleeting moments and how they contribute to the eternity of our collective experience.

Concept and Design: At the heart of our artistic endeavor lies an exploration of the boundaries that define humanity in the digital age. With “Eternal Sunrise”, we seek to highlight taking pauses during the fervor of creation, creating space to take in the cumulative. The piece is a large, light-mapped sun with rays (tubes) emanating from the center, mounted above glowing layers of rolling hills, with humidity-generated haze clouds rising from the base and between the layers. A collection of crystalline shapes at the base, also lit and active, creates a diorama-like scene below the sun.

The piece stands nearly six feet tall and is roughly 5 feet wide with a depth of 3 feet. From across the room, a projector casts beam-like rays timed with the lit pieces, simultaneously illuminating the structure and the haze around the piece. The LED lighting is built into structures of acrylic and transparent 3D shapes. Cloud generators, highlighted by projected light rays seeming to emanate from the LEDs and the piece itself, create the atmosphere. The piece reacts to the user through an interactive touch screen and camera input. The lighting and sound will react to the user directly and display muted dynamic patterns and effects. When it senses moments of pause and acts of reset/clear, it will combine previous inputs into greater dynamic displays.

Spoken Word: Eaves Drop by Drew Deluna!

Eaves drop is a poetic monologue that includes invitations to the audience for different exercises in deep listening, set to a Nils Frahm track.

Lindsay Letharia on Eaves Drop: “It’s captivating, the last time they performed it someone started a “one more poem!” chant at the end 😁”

Habesha Coffee Ceremony by Luam

The Habesha coffee ceremony is a core cultural and time-honored tradition in Ethiopia and Eritrea that transcends the simple act of drinking coffee. It’s a daily ritual that brings family, friends and visitors of all ages together to engage in conversation, exchange news, strengthen their bond and share wisdom passed down through generations. Come enjoy this unique experience which will include roasting & grinding fresh coffee which is later brewed in a special pot called a Jebena while the small of frankincense fills the air. The coffee will be paired with Hambasha bread, popcorn and snacks.
