Description: In “The Art of Grant Writing - Mastering the Basics,” this one-hour session will review essential skills and strategies needed to craft effective grant proposals. Whether a first timer or looking to refine your approach, this session will break down the grant writing process and help you align your ideas with the funder’s expectations. You will learn the basics and key components of pulling together a successful grant proposal.

Learning Objectives:

• Understand the basic structure of a grant proposal (problem statement, goals, objectives, budget)

• Learn research basics and how to identify suitable funding sources for your project or organization

• Gain tips on writing clear, compelling narratives

• Build confidence in submitting your first grant or improving your grant writing skills for future submissions


Practical tools/takeaways from this workshop: The audience will be provided with a basic understanding of grant proposal structure, research basics and how to craft a compelling narrative. We will also touch on tailoring your proposal to the funder’s priorities.



About The Speaker:

Chris Kostbade With over 20 years of executive leadership experience in both private and non-profit sectors, Christine Kostbade is a seasoned professional specializing in organization turnarounds, grant writing, and business profitability. She holds a bachelor’s degree the from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a master’s degree from Valparaiso University. Throughout her career, Christine has successfully secured grant funds and developed strong donor relationships to support mission-driven organizations.

Chris is known for her expertise in program development and staff training, helping agencies grow and thrive. She is passionate about rebuilding businesses to achieve long-term success, and her leadership has made a significant impact on organizations looking to increase their financial sustainability. Together with her husband, Christine is a proud mother of three boys and resides in Northwest Indiana, where she continues to lead and inspire others in both the private and non-profit sector.
