Who is the Algae Loop for?

Anyone who loves a good social ride and is curious about what the future of food looks like. No algae knowledge needed just a decent fitness level and some experience riding in a group.

Question 2

Who are the plnktn cycling ambassadors?

Accepted Answer

Our ambassadors are experienced cyclists, each with their own reason for loving the sport. You'll be riding with Aart Goede (Iron Man World Championship finisher), Francis (founder of  CC Alkmaar), Lotte Manon Aalsma (founder of Ciao CC), and Wietske Wiersema (crew member of Sunday CC).

How tough is the ride?

50 km total with a halfway stop at the algae farm. The pace is social — we ride together, we finish together. No one gets left behind.

Question 4

Do I need experience with group rides?

Accepted Answer

We recommend having some experience riding in a group. Being comfortable in a peloton makes the ride safer and more fun for everyone. Before we set off, we'll do a quick safety briefing so everyone hits the road feeling confident.

Question 5

Can I come on my own?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! Plenty of riders come solo. You'll cycle in small groups and meet people along the way.

Question 6

What do I need to bring?

Accepted Answer

A road or gravel bike in good condition, a helmet (mandatory), a filled water bottle, cycling clothing suited to the weather, a spare inner tube, and basic repair tools. And of course good energy! We take care of the rest.

Question 7

What happens if the weather is bad?

Accepted Answer

Rain or shine, we ride. If conditions are truly unsafe, we'll communicate any changes in advance via our WhatsApp group (link in the event description above). Safety first!

Question 8

Can I park at plnktn?

Accepted Answer

No parking at the office, but the nearest car park is a 5-minute walk away. We're also easy to reach by public transport or just ride your bike.

What if I can't make it?

If you can't make it,  please cancel via the link in your confirmation email or send us an email at info@plnktn.com. Spots are limited and there's likely someone on the waitlist who'd love to take yours — so the sooner you let us know, the better.
