Join us on May 14 for our next Dr Bike event by booking your Free ticket and timeslot today!

Our team of experienced bike mechanics are ready to give your bike a full safety check, make on-the-spot minor repairs if needed, and identify if your bike needs further work doing to it—all for FREE!

Here's what to expect at our Dr Bike event:

🚴‍♂️ Bring your bike to The Hive at your selected time slot. You'll be greeted by a member of The Active Way team and our Dr Bike mechanic.

🚴‍♂️ The bike mechanic will perform a full safety check on your bike and assess if any minor adjustments or repairs are needed.

🚴‍♂️ These repairs may include:

  • Replacing inner tubes
  • Adjusting or replacing inner brake cables and brake blocks
  • Adjusting gear cables
  • Adjusting handlebars and saddle
  • Lubricating working parts of the bike
  • Inflating tires

🚴‍♂️ Our Mechanics can offer the above minor repairs on e-bikes; however, they cannot carry out any electrical maintenance or repairs on e-bikes.

🚴‍♂️ Once you've handed your bike over to our mechanic, you're welcome to stay with us while the work is being done. A member of The Active Way team will be on hand to chat about our free cycling and walking activities. Or feel free to pop into the Cafe for a hot drink and something to eat.

🚴‍♂️ After your bike has been cared for, our mechanic will provide you with a full report explaining the work they've done. They'll also give recommendations for any further work your bike might need.

What Dr Bike Does NOT offer:

🚴‍♂️ It's important to note that Dr Bike is an opportunity for minor repair work; it is not a bike service and, therefore does not include the following:

  • Bike cleaning
  • Replacement of inner and outer cables
  • Replacement of spokes
  • Servicing of disc brakes
  • Servicing of suspension forks
  • Servicing of tubeless tyres
  • Servicing high-end part

Frequently asked questions

Will my slot take 45 minutes?

Once you have dropped your bike off with our mechanic, they will get working on your bike straight away. We allow for 45 minutes, but the mechanic might have your bike ready to collect in 30 minutes.

Do I have to stay whilst my bike is being worked on?

No, you don't have to stay, you are very welcome to drop your bike off and pick it up within your 45-minute time slot. However, if you would like to wait with us a member of The Active Way will be on hand to tell you more about the FREE cycling and walking activities available to you.

If I drop my bike off and leave, will you call me to let me know when my bike is ready?

Yes, we would be happy to do this. Please let us know your mobile number when you drop your bike off. You must be ready to collect your bike when we call or before your 45-minute slot is up. We cannot take responsibility for your bike outside of the 45 min timeslot.
