This event will host the National Battle of the Bands (NBOTB) participants, supporters, and patrons in a electric setting for dancing, Greek organization stroll off, HBCU marching band tributes, and comedic entertainment. The purpose of this event is to bring together the local community, NBOTB participants, and NBOTB travelers into a fun and safe environment to celebrate the weekend in the City of Houston. Our goal is to provide a wholesome “National Battle of the Bands Experience” for the people and set the event apart from any other events of this nature.

DATES AND OBLIGATIONS

Friday, August 2, 2024 – Applications are due by 11:59pm Central standard time for review.

Saturday, August 10, 2024 - Conference call prior event with at least one member from each team represented to discuss coordination, music requirements, staging, and expectations.

August 23, 2024 – Team check-ins, music check, walk-through, dressing rooms.


ORDER OF PERFORMANCE

Competition Round“The THROWDOWN in HTOWN” displaying your organization’s originality, style, hype, and ability to entertain.


SPECIFICS OF THE SHOW

There will be a total of 5 judges comprised of members of Greek Letter Organizations (at least 3 years removed from undergraduate membership) and at least one National Battle of the Bands Sponsor representative.


TEAM COMPOSITION

● Only 8 -10 performance slots are available. (4-5 Fraternities / 4-5 Sororities)

● Teams will consist of no more than 10 performers.

● Each team is allotted (1) sound tech and (2) additional team assistants.

● All members must be in good standing (not expelled or under probation) with their national organization.

● Graduate Chapter Step Teams are allowed.

● No Community Based Step Teams accepted.


PRIZE

There will be cash prizes awarded to the winners!

● Overall GRAND Prize - $2,000.00

● First Place Fraternity - $500.00

● First Place Sorority - $500.00

● Second Place Fraternity - $300.00

● Second Place Sorority - $300.00

● Third Place Fraternity - $100.00

● Third Place Sorority - $100.00

STEP TEAM AGREES TO THE FOLLOWING:


1. To adhere to the rules and regulations as stated in the packet.


2. To perform at the event according to the judging criteria as stated in the packet.


3. The Team assumes ALL risk in its performance of all activities authorized by this agreement and is responsible for all actions whatsoever committed by the team or its members that may cause harm or injury to person(s) or property.


4. If any concerns or issues arise the event coordinators must be contacted immediately via telephone or email.


5. The Team represented by the signature below has been authorized to enter into this agreement as a representative of its respective university/college and affiliate organization.


6. The committee reserves the right to make necessary changes to the rules and regulations to ensure the success and completion of the event.


7. There is no age limit on members performing. Alumni are permitted to participate with undergraduate members of their initiated chapters.
