Join us for a hands-on introduction to the art of Japanese rope bondage — also known as Shibari.

This immersive 3-hour experience offers a respectful, safety-focused approach to the cultural, emotional, and technical foundations of rope play.

Whether you're brand new or refining your skills, this workshop delivers foundational techniques and concepts to enhance your intimate and artistic experiences.

Participants will explore the historical and cultural dimensions of Shibari while practicing a variety of essential knots and ties, including:

Sessions include hands-on instruction, guided partner work, safety training, and creative exploration. We’ll conclude with additional resources for continued practice and growth.

Absolutely 0 Shibari experience required! We will provide ropes, mats, and expert instruction.

Friend Groups: Learn Shibari by tying up your friends. Bring the whole squad!

Couples: Experience an incredible exchange of energies. This is a must-try for you both.

Flying Solo? No problem! Let us know if you want to "top" (tie) or "bottom" (be tied), and we'll pair you up the best we can. If needed, you can even work directly with the instructors.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a partner to attend?

Absolutely not! The benefit of knowing who you are working with is just a matter of trust. If you're comfortable meeting new people and working with them, this event is for you.

Is it safe?

The ties we will be performing are considered very low risk. Additionally, we will discuss safety protocols, proper shibari etiquette, and degrees of consent. We also have safety shears in case of emergencies (which we have never had to use

Do I have to be a certain size or weight for shibari?

Absolutely not! This class is made to be accessible for all shapes and sizes. One of our goals is to be outrageously inclusive.

What should I wear?

"Bottoms" (the person being tied) want to avoid loose clothing, jewelry, accessories, etc. You don't want it to get caught up in the rope. If you have long hair, you may consider wearing it up. This is not a requirement, but is better suited for a workshop. "Tops" want to keep their hands free.

What if I want to tie and be tied?

As long as your partner is willing to switch positions, that is perfectly fine. You can negotiate who will do the tying and who will be tied before each "scene" (each tie).

Do I need to bring rope?

Nope! Rope will be provided. If you have rope you would like to bring, just make sure it's suitable for shibari. I recommend Jute, Hemp, or Nylon rope. Don't use rope with elastics.

Is Nudity Required?

No nudity is required or expected. We focus on safe, consensual rope practice with clothing on. Wear something comfortable that allows movement and access to limbs/torso.

Is this space LGBTQIA+ and knk friendly?

Yes. This is a trauma-informed, body-neutral, and inclusive space for people of all genders, orientations, and identities.
