Textile Weaving Workshop
Come and join us for a fun and creative weaving workshop, where you'll learn to create your very own textile masterpiece and the basics of weaving. No experience is necessary, just bring your enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. All materials and equipment will be provided.
About the teacher > Leonie Edmead (Leonie Textiles), Winner of Clothworkers’ Award 2024 and the 2025 Emerging Weaver of the Year Award.
Leonie's work is Inspired by her British-Caribbean heritage, her work celebrates the richness of Caribbean identity through colour, craft, and contemporary form. Her practice bridges art, fashion, and interiors and blends traditional weaving techniques and natural materials with a modern approach.
Award-winning Textile Designer, Leonie Edmead (Leonie Textiles), will guide you through the process of weaving and unleashing your creativity on the frame loom
Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a complete beginner, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to relax, socialise, and weave something unique to take home.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
The objective of the session is to explore culture and identity through creativity and to learn the basics of weaving:
1. The session will commence with a brief introduction/ history of colour through Black/
African/ Caribbean art, textiles and fashion.
2. This is followed by an introduction to weaving in which attendees will be taught the
basics of weaving on a frame loom. Demonstrations and additional guides provided.
3. Attendees will spend the majority of the session creating their own small woven fabric
sample based on their yarn wraps on mini loom frames. (Examples of frame weaving attached)
4. Session will round off with a short Q&A if applicable. All attendees will have work
finished and framed.
