<a href="https://icavcu.org/test-pattern/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Test Pattern</a> presents Kinlaw, an audio composer, choreographer, and artist focusing on empathic potential and agency developed by performance.Join us Friday, October 21 for the next installment of Test Pattern, featuring a solo performance by composer, choreographer, and sound artist Kinlaw.For their Test Pattern residency, Kinlaw will present Circuit 3, a work that transforms the ICA auditorium into a living sound installation––using choreography, controlled feedback systems, sound sculpture, and moving speakers to generate a real-time audio composition. Blurring the lines between performance, installation, and laboratory, Circuit 3 incorporates elements of chance and play, with a choreographic framework that responds to the changing frequencies of the room.After the performance, Kinlaw will invite the audience to experiment with the objects within the set, followed by a conversation and Q&amp;A with media artist and VCUarts Kinetic Imaging professor Kate Sicchio.Can’t make it to the ICA? The series invites artists to turn the ICA auditorium into an experimental production studio for week-long residencies, during which they collaborate with members of the local community to create a live performance and internet broadcast. Test Pattern offers the public a unique window into the creative process—visitors can observe rehearsals, participate in live tapings and online streams of the performances, and access the performances afterward through videos, websites, and publications.Test Pattern is curated by ICA Assistant Curator and Producer David Riley.ABOUT THE ARTISTS<a href="https://linktr.ee/kinlaw" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Kinlaw</a> is an audio composer, choreographer, and artist focusing on empathic potential and agency developed by performance. Their productions have been featured throughout New York City in institutions like MoMA, MoMA PS1, New Museum, Pioneer Works, and Mana Contemporary, as well as throughout Europe. Kinlaw was previously the music resident at Pioneer Works in April 2022, and a prior member of NEW INC at the New Museum, focusing on Experiments in Art and Technology and psychoacoustical research at Bell Labs. Kinlaw released their debut album The Tipping Scale in 2021 on Bayonet Records. Kinlaw is an MFA candidate at Bard College, Milton Avery School of the Arts.<a href="https://www.sicchio.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dr. Kate Sicchio</a> is a choreographer, media artist and performer whose work explores the interface between choreography and technology. Her work includes performances, installations, web and video projects and has been shown in Philadelphia, New York City, Canada, Germany, Australia, Belgium, and the UK at venues such as Banff New Media Institute (Canada), V&amp;A Digital Futures (London), PS122 (NYC) and Eyebeam (NYC). She has been written about in the press in The New York Times, The Guardian, Dazed Digital, El Diarios, and Imperica Magazine.
