Frequently asked questions

Who runs the camp?

Christer Olsson, tennis professional at The Racquet Club of Hattiesburg, is the camp director. He employs a number of college and high school tennis players to assist with the camps, ensuring a great tennis experience for all campers!

What should my child bring to camp?

• Tennis racquet (if one is not owned, the tennis professionals have some to borrow) • Athletic shoes and clothing for tennis • Water bottle (there is an ice machine and water fountains where it can be filled) • Sunscreen • Towel for the pool • Swimsuit • Flip flops or other pool shoes

Who watches the campers at the pool?

The RCH pool is staffed by American Red Cross certified lifeguards. Additionally, camp staff accompany campers to the pool. If you are uncomfortable with your child swimming, you may pick them up after the tennis portion of camp.

What happens if the weather is bad?

The cost for camp is the same if campers attend three days or more , so no refunds will be issued if one day of camp cannot be held due to weather. If more days have to be canceled, the camp director will communicate and refunds will be issued.

What happens if the pool is closed?

Occasionally, the RCH pool has to close due to weather and chemical issues. If that is the case and the campers cannot swim, an alternate activity, such as a game day or sprinklers, will be provided for campers. Parents and caregivers may also choose to pick their camper up early if they wish.
