In this training Drs. Roy Salgado and Matt Morris will be discussing the latest trends in the practice of counseling via teletherapy in Louisiana. We’ll cover a) jurisdictional considerations, b) risk management, c) working legally across state lines, including updates on the Counseling Compact and other forms of reciprocity, d) jurisprudence exams, e) ethical practice considerations, f) benefits of teletherapy supervision, and g) potential legislative teletherapy considerations for the future.

Join us for an update on Teletherapy practice in this 3hr live Zoom training 06/06/2024 geared to meet the CEU needs of (P)LPCs and (P)LMFTs in Louisiana. This training also will be recorded and available for asynchronous learning the following day with link to the recording sent to the email address used to register.

Speaker Bios:

Dr. Roy A. Salgado, Jr., LMFT-S, LPC-S, NCC

Dr. Roy A. Salgado, Jr., LMFT-S, LPC-S, NCC received his B.S. in Psychology from Tulane University in 1995. He received his Master's degree in Counseling in 2000 and Ph.D. in Counselor Education in 2003 from the University of New Orleans. He's the current Chair of the LPC Board of Examiners in Louisiana. Dr. Salgado has also worked as a teacher for the Archdiocese of New Orleans School System. In addition to his teaching experience, he has had diverse experiences as a counselor at an elementary school, a high school, a child and adolescent youth ranch, a community agency, and in private practice. Dr. Salgado has a position as a Professor of Counseling and Behavioral Sciences at Our Load of Holy Cross College where he has been on faculty teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels since 2006.

Dr. Matt Morris, LPC-S, LMFT-S

Dr. Matt Morris, LPC-S, LMFT-S has a Ph.D. specializing in Family Therapy from Virginia Tech. He is licensed as both a Professional Counselor (LPC) and Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Louisiana and has more than a decade of experience in counseling families. Dr. Morris is a Board-approved supervisor to counselors and therapists and is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Dr. Morris is also a Professor of Counseling at the University of Holy Cross where he trains counselors, studies families, reads a lot, and generally has a great time doing what he loves.
