TEEN Art for Healing Workshops

Come join us for our TEEN Art for Healing Workshops at Tier 3 Montessori! These in-person workshops are designed to help teens express themselves creatively while exploring their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. No art experience is necessary - just bring your open mind and willingness to explore. Our experienced instructors will guide you through various art activities aimed at promoting healing and self-discovery. The focus of these classes is to give practical tools for managing stress and pomoting emotional resilience. Class topics range from teaching stress reduction skills to teaching how to hold multiple emotions at once, how to validate and process fear, anger and shame among other emotions. Classes also address functioning in the world, self-image, boundaries within relationships and personal worldview all with guidance on how to change, redirect or vision-cast how to alter views and emotions. All materials are provided, including but not limited to: oil pastels, colored pencils, paints, collage materials, colored paper and more.


One participant shared: "I came in feeling stuck & distressed and I walked out hopeful and inspired by my newly shifted perspective."


Art for Healing classes beautifully complement traditional talk therapy. Since art making activates emotion, memory and the imagination, these art classes highlight therapeutic topics at different angles that open new ways of thinking. While art making typically activates the right brain, journaling and speaking activate the left brain. This bi-lateral stimulation is linked to the healing of trauma within the brain.


These classes are effective for both individual work with a facilitator as well as within a group environment. The weekly group class has the added healing benefit of growing and maintaining relationships with fellow participants. Additionally, seeing others' artwork and hearing their explanations multiplies participants' ideas for personal applications of the material.

Samantha, a Therapeutic Art Facilitator, spent 8+ years providing trauma-informed care within recovery centers. She facilitates all classes with a strength-based, empowerment model and is skilled at motivational interviewing.

Organized by

Intuitive artist with a passion for heart healing, Samantha hosts therapeutic arts classes for adults and teens. Samantha leads expressive art activities that build emotional resilience and allow processing of emotions for further healing in a supportive, respectful environment. Classes consist of a combination of art projects and journaling prompts, followed by a special debriefing time.

Samantha has a degree in psychology from the University of Washington and many years of experience providing trauma-informed services to survivors of trauma. She offers group classes and individual classes, both online and in person. She looks forward to meeting you!
