There are opportunities to take part either in person or virtually - or BOTH! The more the merrier when it comes to giving back.IN-PERSON OPPORTUNITY:Volunteer your time on Wednesday, December 8 from 4:00 - 5:30 pm in an interactive, in-person kit build program hosted at Greenlight Guru. UWCI’s kit build program is a meaningful, team-building volunteer opportunity helping companies boost employee engagement and foster teamwork. Participants will work together to assemble materials on-site to provide nutritious snack packs for children experiencing food insecurity. Aligning your philanthropic values with volunteerism gives participants the opportunity to give back to the community and to take initiative as a community leader. Register for this in-person event by clicking the green "Register" button on this page.Join our holiday fun with a holiday mask contest, hot cocoa bar, and festive snacks provided, as well as a chance to reconnect with friends in the tech community - we can’t wait to see you there!VIRTUAL GIVING OPPORTUNITY:Participate in our virtual book fair by purchasing a book (or multiple books) for a child to take home over the holidays and build their own at home library. These books will benefit children in United Way’s ReadUP program, which helps students get on track and stay on track with grade-level literacy. Help us reach our goal of 200 books donated for this awesome initiative! If you are not able to attend the in person event as described above, please register to receive the link to our virtual book fair <a href="https://a.co/19Tx0Gh" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here.</a> We are encouraging a little friendly competition to see which company collectively donates the most books. The winner will receive a prize!More about ReadUP:United Way's literacy initiative, Read UP, connects volunteers with local elementary schools, where they spend an hour reading with two students for 30 minutes each week, helping students get on track - and stay on track - with grade-level literacy. Each year Read UP volunteers interact with hundreds of students in 14 Central Indiana school districts. Along with increased academic performance, Read UP students leave the program with increased confidence and a deepened love for reading.COVID-19 Considerations:Anyone who is not feeling well or showing signs of illness should NOT attend this event in person (but may still participate in the book drive virtually). Masks are highly encouraged at the event as we will be indoors, and we will have extra masks and hand sanitizer on hand. ​​
