Technology Policy 101

Curious about how policy is created? Join us for a Tech Policy 101 panel with Becky Chao (Policy Analyst, Open Technology Institute at New America) and Andres Bascumbe (Legislative Council, U.S. House of Representatives and former Manager of TechCongress). This event will be taking place in Washington, D.C. and the address will be released to registered attendees only. The event will run from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with time before and after the discuss for attendees to mingle. Snacks will be provided. ABOUT THE SUMMER OF SOCIAL IMPACT Coding it Forward, TechShift, and Impact Labs are excited to be working together to host the Summer of Social Impact. This collaboration will be a unique event series, organized by, and for, young people passionate about technology and social impact. Our mission is to highlight the organizations and individuals that are leveraging technology for the common good and to spark conversations about how young people can leverage technology as a force for good. The events will be hosted in cities across the country, including New York City, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco. All events will take place on weekday evenings and they are completely free to attend. ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONS Coding it Forward is a student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit empowering computer science, data science, and design students to create social good by breaking down the barriers to entry in social impact spaces. TechShift is an alliance of 20 student organizations at universities around the world. We aim to expand the use of technology as a force for good and minimize the potential harms of technology. Impact Labs is a student-led organization that aims to inspire and empower young technologists to use their skills for the common good.
