Deep tissue massage therapy is a therapeutic massage technique that focuses on applying firm pressure and slow strokes to target the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues . It allows therapists to work on releasing tension, knots, and adhesions in deeper layers of muscle and fascia. Deep tissue massage can be beneficial for various conditions, including chronic pain, muscle tightness, injury rehabilitation, postural problems, and sports-related injuries. It can also help improve blood circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote overall relaxation and well-being.
In this interactive hands-on BASIC Introductory class, you will learn:
1. Description of the Modality
2. Account of its historical development
3. Benefits & Contraindications
4. Specific techniques for basic training
Please wear comfortable flexible clothing.
Certificates of completion will be issued at the end of the class. Please use the name you want on your certificate when you register.
You Do NOT need to bring a table, we have plenty!
CEs only good for Pennsylvania Licensed Massage Therapists – CEs approved by the Pa State Board of Massage Therapy. This class will be with current massage students at the WIofCC however only licensed massage therapists will earn continuing education credits.
