<P>As many of you have grown from founders to small teams to rapidly growing (engineering) organizations, a powerful recognition occurs about the importance of Program Management. Many founding teams comment that the most important hire that they were significantly late making was a Program Manager. Those founders also say that the Program Manager, once hired, was the most important engineering hire they made, often eclipsing or delaying the immediate need for a VP of Engineering.</P>
<P>But what is a Program Manager? What do they do, really? What are the attributes of a great Program Manager? What's the difference between a TPM, EPM, and a scheduling manager? How do you hire a good one?</P>
<P>We're delighted to have Mike Keer from PRG come and talk about this very topic, with lively interjections from engineering leaders in attendance who rely on EPMs to run their engineering teams, schedules, and programs. <P>Michael Keer has over 20 years of high technology New Product Introduction experience in development and manufacturing. As founder of the Product Realization Group (PRG), Mike created a consortium of Silicon Valley companies that can take products from idea to scale. Companies get to market faster, for less money than do-it-yourself.  One source for prototype design and build, cost-reducing insights, and scalable manufacturing.  Our clients include medical device, consumer electronic, and high-technology start ups, SMBs, and large companies such as GoPro, EMC, and Intuitive Surgical. Prior to the PRG, Mike was CEO of SofTEQ, a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) value added reseller, where he supported medical, networking, telecom, defense, and consumer electronics companies. Prior to SofTEQ, Mike was Director of Operations for Paramit Corporation, an Electronic Manufacturing Service provider where he supported over 30 high technology companies and supported a 15 x increase in company value.  He also held Operations positions for SemiPower Systems, Ericsson/Raynet, and NCR.</P>
<P>Mike received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Masters in Manufacturing Engineering from Northwestern University.  He is a Mentor for Stanford University’s Product Realization Network, Lemnos Labs, and Wearable World.</P>
