<H2>Summary</H2>
Tech Academy is a long-running event that many look forward to each year. This 2 1/2 day event kicks off with a keynote speaker and breakfast, and features 3 tracks of breakout sessions, an opportunity to learn more about the technology used in different programs at Madison College and a several chances to win fun prizes. 
<H2>Keynote Speaker</H2>
Our Keynote speaker, Scott Amyx, who is one of the foremost thought leaders in the Internet of Things. The “Internet of things” (IoT) is becoming an increasingly growing topic of conversation both in the workplace and outside of it. It’s a concept that not only has the potential to impact how we live but also how we work. It is the concept of basically connecting any device with an on and off switch to the Internet (and/or to each other). This includes everything from cellphones, coffee makers, washing machines, headphones, lamps, wearable devices and almost anything else you can think of. This also applies to components of machines, for example a jet engine of an airplane or the drill of an oil rig. But why on earth would you want so many connected devices talking to each other? There are many examples for what this might look like or what the potential value might be. Say for example you are on your way to a meeting; your car could have access to your calendar and already know the best route to take. If the traffic is heavy your car might send a text to the other party notifying them that you will be late. What if your alarm clock wakes up you at 6 a.m. and then notifies your coffee maker to start brewing coffee for you? What if your office equipment knew when it was running low on supplies and automatically re-ordered more?  What if the wearable device you used in the workplace could tell you when and where you were most active and productive and shared that information with other devices that you used while working? Attend the keynote session to learn how the Internet of Things will impact the future.
<H2>Breakout Sessions</H2>
The breakout sessions (typically 50 mins long) fall under three (3) different topics this year:

This is an opportunity to learn more about a variety of subjects for work or home including VR/augmented reality, cloud computing, apps, online security, SharePoint, SoftChalk, Blackboard, OneNote, smart devices,Internet of Things and more! #TechAcademy2017
We will also have continuous tours at the college to showcase how innovative technology is currently being used in Madison College programs such as the virtual shooter for public safety, SIM man in our health fields, and machines used for robotics, metallurgy, and cabinet making to name a few. 
<H2>Participation Prizes</H2>
Complete various scavenger hunt missions using a social app and/or participate in other activites to win fun prizes. The more you participate, the better your chance of winning the grand prize.

<H2> FAQs</H2>
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Yes, attendees must be 18 years or older and have a copy of either their printed ticket or the ability to display their ticket on their mobile device.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There are several options for getting to the campus. We are located on the Madison Metro bus route and in addition we have <A HREF="https://www.bcycle.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bcycles</A> on campus. You can also utilize a taxi, Uber, or hotel shuttle.
If you are driving to the campus, parking for the event is available in the metered parking areas or free of charge in the gated visitor lot. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, if you are able to display your ticket electronically through a mobile device, for instance, then a printed ticket is not required. If you have registered but do not have a printed or electronic ticket, we will be able to look you up, however to expedite your check-in, we recommend having your ticket with you in some form.
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
Since we print nametags and prepare materials based on the registrant's name, we ask that the person's name attending match that of the registrant. If you have registered and would like to transfer your ticket to someone else, please contact us to make that change for you.
