Teaching Awards 2017

The Union is delighted to offer an open invitation to Manchester Metropolitan staff and students to the Teaching Awards 2017.  For the first time we have a limited number of tickets available for anyone who would like to attend. 
The Awards evening is an exciting opportunity to come together and celebrate the excellent work of those that make the learning experience at the university truly exceptional. 
Each year students share their stories and nominate the inspirational individuals and teams who go out of their way to make their learning experience the best it can be. 
The event will take place on Tuesday 16 May, from 18:00 at The Union, 21 Higher Cambridge Street, Manchester, M15 6AD.
The evening will run as follows:   18:00 Drinks reception with canapés 18:30 Awards ceremony Following the ceremony, bar opens and networking On the night, winners will be announced in the following categories:
Outstanding Innovation in Teaching
presented by Penny Sweasey, Head of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching
 
Outstanding Feedback
presented by Professor Helen Laville, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education
 
Best Personal Tutor
presented by Rita Lewin, Director of Student Support Services
 
Best Undergraduate Supervisor
presented by Professor Andy Gibson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Science and Engineering
 
Best Postgraduate Supervisor
presented by Professor Sharon Handley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Arts and Humanities
 
Department of the Year
presented by Professor Karen Moore, Registrar
 
Outstanding Teaching for Employability
presented by Julian White, Careers and Employability Service Manager
 
Outstanding Teaching for Sustainability
presented Dr John Hindley, Head of Environmental Strategy
 
Course of the Year
presented by Vanda Murray OBE, Chair of the Board of Governors
 
The Union Award for Outstanding Achievement
presented by Lewis Bartlett, President, The Union
 
Teacher of the Year
presented by Professor Malcolm Press, Vice Chancellor
