Aperçu

50 years after 1968, we are still living in its shadow.

During this workshop, participants will view Cecil’s People, a 23-minute film by History Making Productions. Then they will discuss how this film and related primary sources about the desegregation of Girard College and protest movements in Philadelphia during the 1960s can be used in the classroom. Of special interest will be a chance to review HSP’s Thelma McDaniel Collection of protest posters.

Over lunch, participants will hear from Timothy J. Lombardo, author of Blue-Collar Conservatism: Frank Rizzo’s Philadelphia and Populist Politics, about his new book and his knowledge of the period. Along with time for Q and A, there will be a book signing.
