Tax Credit Compliance "Advanced" Workshop A focused look at and discussion of challenging issues faced by Low-Income Housing Tax Credit compliance professionals in Washington State. Several case studies will be covered in-depth. Topics will include self-employed applicants, special-needs issues, and common area unit clarification. Bring your calculator.

To be eligible to take the advanced workshop you must have hands-on experience of at least one year of Tax Credit property management experience; and attended a WSHFC Commission-taught fundamentals workshop prior to attending this advanced training.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Please note that traffic to and from Tacoma is typically very heavy. Plan extra time to arrive and to get home. There is onsite parking with Courtyard by Marriott please see instructions right below:

Driving Directions

From I-5 North or South

Take City Center Exit and merge onto I-705 at the Tacoma Dome

Follow I-705 to City Center (stay in the left lane)

Take the 15th St. / Pacific Avenue Exit

Proceed up 15th Street one block and turn left on Commerce Street. The Courtyard is on the left.

EVENT Self-Parking Instructions • Self-park in the A, D + E shared lots with the Greater Tacoma Convention Center. A lot is the closest lot and is located directly across the street from hotel on 15th Commerce. • Be sure to park to the right side of the garage when you drive up the ramp to the A Lot. Parking to the left side is for the Marriott Full-Service hotel ONLY and you will be ticketed.

• Or, pull up to the hotel on 15th and Commerce and Valet for $29.00 plus tax

What are the event parking rates? • 0-15 minutes – No Charge (pick up and drop off of pedestrians only) • 0-4 hours - $6 • 4+hours - $12 How does the parking system work? It’s as easy as (1) park, (2) remember your license plate number (take a picture with your cell phone), (3) proceed to the electronic pay station to pay or pay via the Flowbird App*. You can set up an account at https://flowbirdapp.com/ or download the app for Android or iPhone.

Metered City Street Parking: • 2-hour limit between 8am-6pm with a minimum payment of $0.25 • Free after 6PM and Sundays

Our training is also accessible via Sound Transit/Tacoma Light Link Rail which runs every 10 minutes and free parking at the Tacoma Dome, then use Tacoma Light Link Rail.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

DO feel free to bring a bag lunch if you don't want to purchase lunch at the restaurants nearby. Coffee and pastries will be served in the morning.

DO bring a light sweater or jacket, in case of lower temperatures in the training area.

DO NOT bring any co-workers with you who have not registered and paid, they will not be allowed to attend the class.

DO NOT wear perfume/cologne or strongly-scented body products. This is for the health of WSHFC staff and attendees who have chemical sensitivites.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes, only for substitutes! Please feel free to log back into EventBrite and change the attendee name if you cannot attend. If you can't log into EventBrite, please contact our workshop coordinator to make the change for you!


Can I update my registration information?

Yes! You can log in and change registration information, including the registrant name if you would like to substitute someone else in your stead.


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please have your registration confirmation handy, either on paper or on your mobile device.


What is the refund policy?

WSHFC does not issues refunds unless we have to cancel the class.


The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

IF you have contacted our workshop coordinator ahead of time to make an attendee switch, then this is okay.


If I arrive past the 9:00 am start time, will I receive my certificate?

You may stay for the training, but you will not receive your certificate. As of February 2020 check-in for our WSHFC TC Fundamentals/Advanced training is at 8:45 am and training starts promptly at 9:00 am. If you have to travel a distance for training, plus find adequate parking and/or walk to our offices, make the necessary time concessions to arrive on time.
