TD Orchestra is a group of musicians from Ivy League Institutions in the U.S. (such as Brown, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)), whose mission is to create a unified global community through music. The group was founded in 2022 by Tatsuya Daniel, who is an MIT alumnus and current physics PhD candidate at Brown University.
TD Orchestra already has projects in 12 countries around the world (and counting), from music schools and programs in developing countries to other projects and upcoming tours internationally which are not limited to music. In March, TD Orchestra went to Germany and the Czech Republic for a week of workshops and engagement with local communities and organizations, visits to schools and universities, music performances, as well as filming a music video and short movie. In June, TD Orchestra members will travel to Australia for similar activities, including a concert at the 2024 Lions Club International Convention in Melbourne. Joining TD Orchestra in Australia will be their partners from Malaysia, At Adau.
The first weekend of May, TD Orchestra has a pair of fundraising concerts -- one on Saturday, May 4 (8pm, at MIT), and one on Sunday, May 5 (3pm, at Brown). Both concerts will be livestreamed for those who are not in Boston and Providence. Proceeds from the concerts will go directly towards TD Orchestra's schools and programs around the world, as well as its other international projects.
