Back Pocket and Presidio Theatre present Taste of Then: stories about food and memory, a unique show that brings journalists and locals together for a night of art, entertainment, and storytelling by and for the people of San Francisco.
So join us, as we break bread with tradition, relish in the present and feast on nostalgia.
------Storytellers------
* Martha Mendoza is a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning Associated Press journalist whose reporting has helped free over 2,000 enslaved fishermen and prompted action by the U.S. Congress and the White House. She has also won an Emmy for her Frontline documentary.
* Rachel Levin is a writer whose works have appeared in the New Yorker, Bon Appétit, New York Times, and more. In 2022 a piece she wrote was selected for Best American Food Writing. She is the author of four books.
* Carly Severn is a Senior Editor at KQED and has worked on the California Report Magazine, Bay Curious and KQED Arts. She's formerly the host of The Cooler podcast.
* Don Reed is an American actor, writer, producer, director and comedian. He has been nominated for three Primetime Emmys and has appeared in The Tonight Show, HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central, Spiderman and more.
* JP Frary is a maker of things who works out of a shop on Alameda’s old Naval Base. His stories have aired on The Moth, KQED, KZST.
