Tannat Across Texas: Newsom and Tallent

Bending Branch Winery is the Tannat House of Texas. Bending Branch has been making High Plains Tannat from Newsom Vineyards since 2014, and Hill Country Tannat from Tallent Vineyards since 2016.

Meet the growers at this special event and experience a comparative vertical tasting of Tannat wines from both Newsom and Tallent, vintages 2016 through 2019, plus a special tasting from the barrel.

The event will be held in the barrel room at Bending Branch Winery. An individual charcuterie plate will accompany the tasting.

About the Growers:

Neal and Janice Newsom

Just outside of the West Texas community of Plains, you’ll find one of the oldest, most respected vineyards in the state. The Newsom Family has been dedicated to growing high quality wine grapes for over 30 years. Newsom has become the symbol of quality Texas fruit and wine. Bending Branch has been making wine from Newsom grapes since 2010.

Drew and Laura Tallent

Growing grapes for more than 20 years, Drew Tallent has 65 acres planted with vineyards. Nourished by Mason County’s unique Hickory Sandstone aquifer, Tallent produces grapes with complex aromatics, robust flavor, and luscious character. Bending Branch’s first Tannat from Tallent was produced from the 2016 harvest.
