About this event

  • 2 hours

Enjoy an evening learning pottery wheel techniques both individually and in tandem.

"Date nights" are for friends, families, partners, spouses, dates, co-workers - we just call it a pottery date for 2 people for lack of a better term to show our inclusivity, because date nights are for everyone!!

During this workshop, you'll share a pottery wheel while you first learn to work by yourself, then put your trust in your partner to make something together. And for this night only, we encourage all the Ghost/Patrick Swayze/Demi Moore references you've got—we'll even snap a pic for Instagram if you so desire.

You and your partner will create 2-4 pieces of unique pottery and have multiple options for glaze color choices. Your instructor will be able to glaze and fire your creations for you. All work will be available for pickup 2-4 weeks after the workshop. E-mail notifications will be sent out accordingly.

This class is a great way to celebrate your bond with a permanent piece of artwork that you both made together!

Instructor: Mel

$80 per couple

All glazing and firings will be completed by the instructor and you can pick up your pieces approximately 2-4 weeks after the workshop at a time arranged with your instructor.

A minimum of 5 students per class or class will be canceled /rescheduled at the discretion of Erie ClaySpace. In the event of a class cancellation, funds will be fully refunded.

Accessing the studio:

The front doors to the PACA building are locked. When you arrive, please call this number (814) 520 5089, and your instructor will buzz you in.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum age requirement for this event?

Attendees must be at least 14 years of age or older to attend, and attendees under 21 are not permitted to bring/consume alcohol.

What is the refund policy?

Refunds can be issued if proper notice is given at least 48 hours before the event.

What should I bring?

You should come with any food or beverages you’d like to enjoy during your workshop, as well as any utensils, glasses, plates, etc. that your treats require. ClaySpace does not provide any of these items and is not responsible for clean-up.

What should I wear?

Don’t wear any loose clothing, scarves, or long jewelry. Long hair should be tied back and no rings or bracelets should be worn, as they can fall off or get ruined. All clay washes out of clothing, but wear clothing you care about at your own risk.

What can I expect/what will I learn?

Come with an open mind! Throughout the course, our experienced instructor will conduct demonstrations, showcasing a variety of techniques. They will take you through each step, ensuring you grasp the process, and they'll be there to answer any questions you may have as you create your unique pieces.

What if something breaks or cracks?

While we aim for perfection, it's essential to recognize that in multi-step art forms like pottery, success isn't always guaranteed. However, you can trust that your creations will receive the utmost care and attention from our instructor, ensuring a rewarding experience.

When will I get my creation?

After the workshop, your instructor will glaze and fire your work. The finishing process takes several days to complete, and students can pick up their work about 2-4 weeks after the workshop at a time agreed upon by the group and instructor.

How can I arrange a private event at Erie ClaySpace?

Email info@erieclayspace.com. Workshops should be planned several weeks in advance in order to ensure your date is available. If you have an idea for a private workshop, please email us and we will do our best to accommodate your group.

How can I contact the organizer if I have questions?
