Join us for a community film screening and discussion of Taking Root, a docuseries highlighting the intergenerational impact of war in Southeast Asia and demonstrating the power of Southeast Asians in resisting and rebuilding in America. In commemoration of 50 years of Vietnamese American community building, come watch the film with us and join an intergeneration discussion about how the stories uplifted in the documentary connect to the history of Vietnamese American refugee resettlement and community building in Uptown, Chicago.

Founded in 1976, The Vietnamese Association of Illinois (VAI) is a <a href="http://charitableviewer.ilattorneygeneral.net/" title="http://charitableviewer.ilattorneygeneral.net/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">501(c)(3)</a> charitable organization that focuses on serving diverse communities of all ethnicities and religions, fostering unity, and promoting Vietnamese American identity.Since its founding, VAI has served thousands of Vietnamese Americans and other ethnic communities through facilitating resettlement and citizenship, building community, seeking employment, addressing healthcare issues, raising political awareness, providing educational opportunities, addressing multigenerational issues for seniors and youth, establishing and expanding businesses, and strengthening cultural heritage. Our impact began in Uptown Chicago and has since 2016 expanded to DuPage County via our <a href="http://hnvi.org/dupage/" title="http://hnvi.org/dupage/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">satellite office</a>.Được thành lập vào năm 1976, Hôi Người Việt tại Illinois (HNV) là một tổ chức từ thiện 501(c)(3) với trọng tâm phục vụ cộng đồng đa sắc tộc và tôn giáo , gắn kết nuôi dưỡng cộng đồng và vinh danh bản sắc người Mỹ gốc Việt..Từ lúc thành lập đến nay, HNV đã phục vụ hàng nghìn người Việt và các cộng đồng dân tộc khác nhau tại Hoa Kỳ thông qua các dịch vụ hỗ trợ như tái định cư, nhập tịch, xây dựng cộng đồng, tìm kiếm việc làm, giải quyết các vấn đề chăm sóc y tế, nâng cao nhận thức chính trị, cung cấp các cơ hội giáo dục và giải quyết các vấn đề khác biệt thế hệ trong gia đình cho các vị cao niên và thanh thiếu niên. Qua đó HNV cũng thiết lập, mở rộng doanh nghiệp và phát triển các di sản văn hóa. Khu Uptown thuộc Chicago là nơi mà chúng tôi đã lan rộng sự ảnh hưởng khi phục vụ các chương trình trên và sau đó mở rộng chi nhánh văn phòng đến Quận DuPage.

Celebrate and honor 50 years of the vibrant Vietnamese American community in Illinois during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with Tiệc Người Việt—a special series of events to showcase the rich history, culture, and contributions of Vietnamese Americans. Throughout May, enjoy engaging conversations and presentations from Vietnamese artists, along with meet-ups designed to connect and strengthen the bonds in our community.Trong Tháng Di Sản Người Mỹ gốc Á và Thái Bình Dương năm nay, quý vị hãy cùng nhau đến tham dự Tiệc Người Việt với chúng tôi để kỷ niệm và tôn vinh 50 năm cộng đồng người Mỹ gốc Việt tại Illinois. Đây là một chuỗi các sự kiện đặc biệt nhằm giới thiệu về lịch sử phong phú, văn hóa giàu bản sắc, và những đóng góp tích cực của người Mỹ gốc Việt.
