The influence of technology on our lives is moving too quickly for anyone to comprehend the full extent of its impact. From appropriating our personal data to predicting market behavior, the tentacles of tech companies seem limitless and have gone largely unnoticed and unregulated. Now, the tech industry has been stealthily making billions hand-over-fist in the criminal justice and immigration systems, on the backs of the most vulnerable communities. It will take broad movement organizing to expose and derail the tech industry’s efforts that are increasing surveillance and facilitating war, incarceration and criminalization, with little regard for civil or human rights. 
On July 26-28, 2019, Mijente, Media Justice, Workers Lab, and Tech Workers Coalition are convening #TackBackTech: A People’s Summit for a Surveillance-Free Future. Organizers from communities directly impacted by criminalization and surveillance, together with policy, advocacy, legal organizations, as well as tech industry workers who have been leading organizing efforts within the largest tech companies, will come together to:
1) Share information and build collective analysis about the role of tech in reshaping our economy and democracy, with a particular focus on the criminal justice system and immigration enforcement;
2) Learn strategies from active campaigns and initiatives that are targeting tech tools and corporations;
3) Identify potential convergence points for organizing and movement building that can lead to renewed policy and regulatory efforts to protect local communities and targeting of a broader set of companies.

La influencia tecnológica en nuestras vidas avanza tan rápidamente que se nos dificulta comprender el alcance de su impacto. Desde la apropiación de nuestros datos personales hasta las predicciones de nuestro comportamiento en el área del comercio, los tentáculos de las compañías tecnológicas aparentan no tener límites; además, en su mayoría, se han movido desapercibidas y sin regulaciones. Ahora la industria tecnológica ha estado sigilosamente enriqueciéndose por miles de millones, sobre las espaldas de las comunidades más vulnerables, en los sistemas de la justicia criminal e inmigración. Requiere una organización amplia del movimiento para exponer y desbaratar los esfuerzos de la industria tecnológica que aumentan la vigilancia y facilitan las guerras, el encarcelamiento y la criminalización, sin consideración hacia los derechos civiles o humanos. 
El 26-28 de julio de 2019, Mijente, Media Justice, Workers Lab, y Tech Workers Coalition organizarán _#TakeBackTech: Una cumbre popular para un estado libre de la vigilancia_, para convocar a organizadorxs de las comunidades directamente afectadas por la criminalización y la vigilancia, organizaciones legales, de política y defensa, así como también a lxs trabajadorxs en la industria tecnológica quienes han dirigido esfuerzos organizativos dentro de las compañías tecnológicas más grandes, con el fin de:
1) Compartir información y desarrollar un análisis colectivo sobre el rol de la tecnología en la remodelación de nuestra economía y democracia, con un enfoque específico en los sistemas de la justicia criminal e inmigración;
2)  Aprender sobre las estrategias de las campañas e iniciativas activas que han puesto en blanco a las herramientas y las corporaciones tecnológicas;
3)   Identificar posibles puntos de convergencia para organizar y construir movimiento que podrían llevarnos hacía unos renovados esfuerzos de política y regulación con el fin de proteger a las comunidades locales y poner en blanco a una mayor cantidad de compañías.
