About this event

  • 1 hour

Join us at ArtServe for a unique workshop using the Japanese art of Taiko drumming and explore the benefits to your mental and physical well-being.

Express yourself playing taiko drums using mental focus, physical movement, counting, and play as a team - Hitting a big drum can help with stress relief! Taiko drumming is not just about making music; it's a full-body workout that can help reduce stress, improve coordination, and boost your overall mood.

This Taiko Drumming for Better Mental and Physical Health Workshop is geared for families with teens and youth 12-17 years old. However, kids between 7-11 are welcome to participate with family practicing members.

Please let us know of any sensory concerns.

Frequently asked questions

My child is younger than 12, can they participate in this workshop?

If your child is between 7-11, it is OK to have them join this workshop, if other family members are participating. We do our best to group younger kids together, but leave this determination to you.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear comfortable clothing as if attending PE class at school or going to the gym. Bring a water bottle, towel and snack for after the workshop. For safety, please do not wear jewelry (rings and earrings), hats or watches. They can become damaged or cause injury while playing taiko.

What time should I arrive?

Please be in the ArtServe parking lot :15 minutes before the workshop start time. Traffic on Sunrise Blvd. can get busy, especially on days where there is an event on the beach. We want to make sure we are set and ready to go by start time.

What about parking?

Art Serve is located on the northeast corner of Holiday Park and has plenty of parking for participants. Please check in at the front desk of ArtServe, then come into the auditorium.

Will it be loud?

Taiko drumming can get loud. We will have basic hearing protection (ear plugs) available for workshop participants. If something specific is needed, such as ear muffs, please bring with you.

Can I stay and watch the workshop?

For these workshops, parents, grand parents and guardians are encouraged to play taiko with the kids. Please enter discount code "FAMILY" for 20% off your total purchase.

How many people can I bring?

Due to venue space, we ask that only family members participating in the workshop be in the auditorium. If you have people wanting to stay, there is an art gallery and large park nearby to enjoy,

Will the library be open at Art Serve?

The Broward County library located inside Art Serve is not open on Saturdays. There is a lovely Art Gallery open in the lobby and Holiday Park nearby.

I want to bring a group of friends, how does that work? And what if I have more questions?

Please email us at info@fushudaiko.org or call (754) 208-1010 Ext 3
