Tai Chi for Balance Class Series with The Osher Center


  • When: Tuesdays from 10:30am - 11:30am CT, from May 13th - June 24th 2025 (no class on May 27th).
  • Location: Hybrid (option to join in person or virtual via Telehealth Zoom - more info below)
  • Facilitator: Cindy Hui-Lio, EdD., Certified Tai Chi Facilitator.


Description:

This class series focuses on Tai Chi-based movements and the principles of centering, grounding, coordinated movements, body awareness, full/empty, and intentional movements. The series is designed for those who want to improve stability and mobility and may be experiencing neurological conditions, vertigo, vestibular issues, pain, movement disorder, or arthritis. Suitable for individuals experiencing challenges with balance. This class is a suitable option for those new to the practice of Tai Chi.

This class is a part of our "M1" and "M2" Suitability Code Categories on our Movement Class Suitability Guide (see below).

M1 classes are suitable for those with some physical limitations and those new to the practice. Modifications available if support of a chair or the wall is needed. M2 classes are suitable for those comfortable moving independently.

How our hybrid offerings work:

In-person classes sessions will be held at the Osher Center for Integrative Health at Vanderbilt at 3401 West End Avenue, Suite 380, Nashville TN 37203 (entrance is through the parking garage in the back of the building). Additional logistical information will be emailed to you prior to the class start date.

Virtual class sessions will be accessible through the My Health at Vanderbilt portal (available through your web browswer and/or the MyHealth at Vanderbilt app). More info will be provided to join class upon registration.

Cancellation policy:

Participants may cancel up to one week before start date without penalty, after that date, there is a 20% cancellation fee. No refund is available after the class start date.
