Tacony LAB Community Arts Center, a program of Mural Arts Philadelphia, is a community art center funded by the City of Philadelphia located in the Northeast section of Philadelphia. At the Tacony LAB, providing accessible and free art is a priority. It offers free classes for adults and children, ranging from fiber arts to drawing, painting, crafting, and more. It also provides a safe and inclusive space to work on your projects while receiving support from attending artists and staff. Visit during open studio hours for a tour of all this incredible art center packs in.

Organized by

Created by Mural Arts Philadelphia with the support of Councilman Mike Driscoll, The Tacony LAB Community Arts Center brings the neighborhood and the arts together to create a unique hub for learning, creativity, and community engagement in Lower Northeast Philadelphia.

The Tacony Lab Community Art Center’s classes are free and unique! Help us keep them that way! Due to the increasing demand for our classes, we want to remind everyone of our class and attendance policies.

Attendance Policy:

We understand that traffic and other delays happen, however we request you to be on time to our events. We have a 15 minute grace period. If we are not notified and you are more than 15 minutes late, you may not be permitted to join the class. Our classes are only 2 hours long and it is difficult to catch up students when they are late.

No Show Policy:

If you are registered for a class, do not show up and fail to communicate with us at least 2 hours before the class begins, you will not be allowed to register for classes for the next three months. Many of our classes have waitlists and if you do not show up, it deprives someone else of the opportunity to take the class. You will be informed if this takes place and will not be allowed to register until three months has passed. We understand that things come up, but please be courteous to our instructors and other community members and let us know in enough time to bring in someone from the waitlist.

Because of the popularity of our classes, some of them are repeated, especially if there was a large waitlist for a class. If you have taken a class before, we ask that you give everyone a fair opportunity and not register until the class occurs without a waitlist. If you wish to take a popular class more than once, please talk to us about it first.
