About this event

SHHIMR meets quarterly to review cases of Congenital Syphilis (CS), perinatal HIV, and perinatal hepatitis in West Virginia as a part of a Case Review Team (CRT). The CRT will review and analyze the case information and summarizes findings to create recommendations. It's best for members of SHHIMMR case review team to be from many disciplines and parts of the community to make the case review findings and opinions valuable.

We are looking for professionals from backgrounds that include but are not limited to: city government officials, county executives, HIV/AIDS health professionals, STD Health Professionals, obstetricians/gynecologists, neonatologists, pediatricians, maternal and child health professionals, community advocates, substance abuse and mental health professionals, and child welfare staff.

In our meetings, Summaries of 1-3 cases will be presented for discussion. The case presentation will include information on clinical care provided to the mother and baby, medical record information of the mother and baby, general care of the infant, living circumstances, stressful situations, and any events that are relevant to the case.

The discussion allows for the team to develop a list of all possible case-related issues that once identified should be recorded for possible suggestions. This will facilitate the development of future recommendations and action plans. After several cases are reviewed and recommendations are made, the co-lead and/or a delegation from the CRT should formally report their recommendations for action to the Community Action Team (CAT).
