PROGRAM: Reclaiming Business as a Creative Act

Setting the stage for reclaiming business as a creative act: busting societal myths that may not serve us and acknowledging the power of small arts organizations.

Looking inwards: Encourage introspection as a pathway to outward action, reducing stress levels and bringing awareness of how we spend our energy.

Value Proposition Canvas: Deep-dive into this powerful tool that helps develop a deeper appreciation for the value our organization delivers. Gain a fresh perspective on our business.

Future’s thinking exercise: Look Back to Look Forward. When we imagine the future, where is our organization? Do we want to maintain or grow? What impact do we want to have? Based on all the forces in the environment and landscape, will our Value Proposition, customer segments, or offerings change, or will they stay the same?

Internal integration: Mentally gather all the insights you gained today about your energy, your organization's Value Proposition, and what the future of your organization could look like. Ask yourself: what do you need to get there?

Pitching: In groups, practice your "elevator pitch" out loud. Talk about the value your organization delivers and share an "ask" that will help you reach the future you envision.

Presenters:

Zoo Labs was founded in 2013 in West Oakland with a vision to build startup entrepreneurship infrastructure that did not previously exist around artists. Over the last decade we have helped pioneer a new artist-led ecosystem, evolving our programming to empower a strong and vibrant community of over 1,000 artists and mentors.

Vinitha Watson is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Zoo Labs, a groundbreaking accelerator that bridges the worlds of art and business. Vinitha is an entrepreneur, design strategist, and artist (she is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and Carnatic vocalist). Over the last twenty years, Vinitha has helped hundreds of artists, top level executives, and social impact teams heal, remove internal obstacles, and align themselves with their vision to grow impactful businesses globally.

HiiiWAV is an award winning black music entrepreneurship incubator founded by Bosko Kante, a Grammy Award winning music producer, artist advocate, and co-founder of innovative music-tech company ElectroSpit. Our mission is to help grow profitable, culturally rich, and socially impactful artist-led companies that create generational wealth and timeless music in the black community.
