About this event

  • 1 hour

Join HI USA and world traveler Melissa Weinmann for a virtual workshop that will give you advice on how to travel “green,” with tips on what to do to prepare for and enjoy a trip at any time of the year with an eco-friendly mindset.

A former HI USA volunteer and now Volunteer Coordinator at HI USA Chicago, Melissa has traveled to over 40 countries and has been making steps toward a zero-waste lifestyle for nearly a decade. Planning ahead is key to making the most out of your trip, and she will explain how travelling sustainably also helps you travel compactly and on a budget.

In this presentation, Melissa will cover resources to help you understand what it means to be sustainable, what to pack, and things to do before, during and after your trip that will help you save the planet as well as save money!

This workshop is intended to be interactive and you’ll also have the chance to ask questions as they come up during the workshop. We hope you join us!

About your presenter:

Melissa Weinmann has been traveling independently since 2008, has been to over 40 countries (including some of the least-visited places in the world), and lived in three different countries. She has been thrifting her wardrobe since 2015 and has been making steps towards the zero-waste lifestyle for nearly a decade. When she isn’t traveling, she is making her own ice cream, sewing her own clothes, volunteering at sustainable organizations and enjoying all kinds of crafty projects.
