The panel will define the various certifications parameters of LEED, Fitwel, ILFI Zero, and BREEAM. Participants will be able to evaluate sustainable best practices of reaching Net-0 reviewing existing projects.

The projects will showcase exterior trends and how the design has been adjusted to fit this environmental initiative.

HSW Justification:

The program reviews strategies employed on completed project to achieve net zero. Various green rating/certification systems and their criteria will be discussed and terms related to sutainable building will be defined. New and old design strategies effectiveness and compatibility with current building design trends will be compared including passive solar, high-efficiency lightingand renewable energy.

Learning Objective 1:

Define the differences between certifications LEED, Fitwel, ILFI Zero, and BREEAM

Learning Objective 2:

Evaluate projects utilizing sustainable design criteria to achieve better energy efficiency

Learning Objective 3:

Identify facade trends that can be integrated into sustainable designs of the future

Learning Objective 4:

Review the information critical to educating clients and balancing design requests with new sustainable technologies.

Farah Nazahmad

Farah (Ahmad) Qadeer is a licensed public sector Architect and LEED Accredited Professional based in New York City, specializing in building energy efficiency and green building technical standards. Her public sector experience in city government agencies includes sustainable design review of projects, assessment and development of technical standards and energy code compliance. Additionally, as a green building journalist for national publications, Farah is passionate about sharing her expertise on environmental policy and high performance design.
