Sushi Making 101

From the refreshing décor to the Asian comfort food and scent of the Izakaya grill, Umaya will delight your senses.Umaya brings a much-needed Izakaya presence to the nation’s capital, mixing a beautiful beer garden with Asian culture and delicacies. Izakaya restaurants are similar to tapas restaurants as they propel guests to share and enjoy their time together—always over a few drinks. Umaya will carry a wide array of beer and sake, to complement the peaceful and easy feel of the restaurant. The seasonal menu will change every few months but hold fast to favorite staples.

Come join us at Umaya Izakaya for a 2 – 3 hours event on how to make sushi. Learn the intricacies in the preparation of sushi using basic ingredients and simple techniques.
The hands-on demonstration and class of the preparation and creation of each type of roll includes:
<UL>
<LI>After each demonstration, the chef will hand out the rolls just demonstrated to lucky member(s) of the audience to eat!</LI>
<LI>Each attendee receives copies of the recipes, detailing the preparation of the rolls demonstrated to us.</LI>
<LI>Students will get an opportunity to make (and then eat) some sushi rolls (with the chef’s help) after the demonstration is over!</LI>

Menu • Sushi rice • California roll • Spicy tuna roll • Avocado roll • Chef’s choice!
(The chef reserves the right to make changes to the menu if need be)
