Description

Please join us to discuss the importance of arts education in Humboldt County schools! You’re invited to a networking event on Friday, September 29th for school, community, and business leaders in support of arts education.

The Humboldt Alliance for Arts Education, a local advocacy group, is one of the California Alliance for Arts Education’s Arts Now Communities, formed to ensure equitable and quality arts education learning opportunities for every student in California. The Humboldt Alliance for Art Education, originally formed in 2012, has helped raise awareness in the media and create valuable partnerships with local businesses and PTAs. We’re excited to relaunch our arts education advocacy efforts this September!

The Alliance is working with the Humboldt Arts Council and Humboldt County Office of Education to convene business partners, community, and parent organizations. The Local Control Funding Formula, passed in 2013, creates a unique opportunity for local advocates to influence the priorities of local schools. We will discuss the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), as well as why arts education is important in every child’s life. Humboldt County residents place a high value on arts education and we hope to strengthen collaborative relationships between school districts, arts organizations, and the County Office of Education.

We hope you will join the conversation about the importance of creativity and take part in our future work to broaden our community’s support for quality arts education in all of our schools.
