Super 400 has been making music together for nearly three decades, and you can hear that history in the way they play.
Formed in Troy in 1996, the band, Kenny Hohman (guitar, vocals), Lori Friday (bass, keyboards), and Joe Daley (drums), built their following the long way: touring, recording, and earning a reputation as a powerful live band. Early on, their music traveled hand to hand through recordings and word of mouth, leading to sold-out shows overseas before many audiences had even seen them in person.
At home, they’ve become part of the Capital Region’s musical identity, earning a place in the Eddies Music Hall of Fame and multiple Artist of the Year honors. In 2006, the city of Troy marked their impact by naming “Super 400 Day.”
What’s kept them going is simple: three musicians who know how to listen to each other. Their songs move between rock, soul, and improvisation, with arrangements that leave room for things to shift and open up in real time.
