SUNY Update on the Applied Learning Initiative’s past and future. Dr. Barbara Holland, Community Engagement and Organizational Change Expert, shares her expertise.



11:00 p.m. 12:00 p.m.

Panel of Implementing Applied Learning. Dr. Holland will provide an overview of the challenges and opportunities in implementing Applied Learning and campus leaders from various sectors will discuss their individual implementation plans.

12:00 p.m. 12:30 p.m. Break

12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Lunch and Learn Sessions. Boxed lunches will be provided and attendees will choose between five concurrent sessions.

Faculty Engagement Session. This panel will be comprised of faculty governance leaders and experts. This panel will focus on the current challenges to faculty engagement in Applied Learning, what role faculty play in determining approved applied learning on campus, and what processes campus teams and individual faculty members use in applied learning.

3:45 p.m. 5:00 p.m.

“Ask Me Anything” Session. This will be an open and engaging conversation with Applied Learning experts and practitioners from across the nation, joining us by phone and web. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about data collection, implementation, challenges and opportunities in applied learning.

Partnerships Session. A diverse group of speakers will share their experiences working with SUNY and the best practices they use in forming and maintaining campus partnerships with other campuses, business and industry partners, nonprofits, and state agencies.

Lunch and student panel. Attendees will hear from a diverse student panel about their work in Applied Learning and barriers to student engagement. Attendees will hear about equity of access for non-traditional students, students from underrepresented minorities, and others. Following the panel, attendees will form into breakout groups to discuss implications.
