Event description

Description

Sunú is the indigenous word for Maize by the Tarahumara people of Northern Mexico. Maize is a central part of the culture, identity, economy, community, spirituality and cuisine throughout Mexico. However, the Mexican governement has been working to support Monsanto’s efforts to bring genetically modified seeds into the country, resulting in the contamination of native corn. Sunú introduces us to the farmers determined to remain free and independent of big agriculture. Director Teresa Camou will be at the museum to discuss the topics and questions raised by the film after the screening.
